Travel Coloring Books for Adults

Travel coloring books for adults are books built around destination scenes, landmarks, streets, landscapes, markets, architecture, animals, maps, or imagined journeys. They are not the same as portable coloring books: a travel-themed book can be large, detailed, and better suited to a desk. Choose by the trip you want to color: Europe for a familiar route, Asia for varied motifs, Africa for landscapes and animals, or imaginary travel for storybook places.

Travel coloring is about subject, not suitcase size

Travel coloring books for adults are built around the feeling of visiting places on the page: streets, trains, markets, buildings, coastlines, mountains, desert paths, landmarks, food, flora, animals, and imagined villages. They are different from portable coloring books. A portable book is easy to carry. A travel coloring book is about the subject matter.

That distinction matters because a travel-themed adult coloring book can be detailed, square, desk-friendly, and not especially compact for a bag. Rita Berman's official pages for her Europe, Asia, and Africa travel books list German editions at 20 x 20 cm, or about 8 x 8 inches, and 96 pages. That is a theme choice first, not automatically a pocket-format choice.

Europe travel coloring books

Rita Berman's official overview says her travel-inspired series began with Europe in 2021. The Europe page for Meine Reise durch Europa lists a German edition at 20 x 20 cm, 96 pages, released August 27, 2021.

Editorial interpretation: a Europe travel coloring book is a strong first choice for adults who want travel without having to learn a very specific visual vocabulary. It can overlap with city coloring, architecture coloring, cozy streets, storefronts, maps, and landscape pages.

Who it is for: adults who like streets, buildings, short imagined trips, and page-by-page exploration.

Who should skip it: readers who want mostly wildlife, tropical scenes, deserts, or a strong animal-landscape mix.

Asia travel coloring books

Rita Berman's official Asia page for Meine Reise durch Asien lists a German edition at 20 x 20 cm, 96 pages, released August 26, 2022. The page names Japan, cherry blossoms, traditional food, Mount Fuji, the Gobi Desert, India, the Great Wall of China, Samarkand bazaars, Vietnam beaches, and the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Editorial interpretation: Asia is the travel-coloring lane for variety seekers. It can support blossoms, mountains, trains, food, architecture, markets, deserts, beaches, and deep color shifts inside one theme.

Who it is for: adults who get bored with repeated motifs and like changing palettes.

Who should skip it: readers who want a narrow, calm, repetitive theme.

Africa travel coloring books

Rita Berman's official Africa page for Meine Reise durch Afrika lists a German edition at 20 x 20 cm, 96 pages, released September 29, 2023. The page describes pyramids, nature parks, the Cape of Good Hope, Sahara landscapes, Moroccan bazaars, elephants, hippos, penguins, Madagascar, flora, animals, art, culture, and architecture.

Editorial interpretation: Africa is a strong travel-coloring direction for people who want more natural texture in the route. Sand, stone, animal forms, ocean views, markets, plants, and architecture give colored-pencil users many chances to practice small texture changes.

Who it is for: adults drawn to landscapes, animals, nature details, warm palettes, and scene variety.

Who should skip it: readers who want mostly European streets, cozy interiors, or a first-in-series volume.

Imaginary travel and storybook places

Not every travel-feeling coloring book needs real destinations. Rita Berman's official page for Das Land der kleinen Abenteuer lists an 80-page German edition, a 22.5 x 22.5 cm format, and an October 14, 2025 release. The page describes cozy villages, busy cities, landscapes, inhabitants, notes, and recipes.

Editorial interpretation: imaginary travel is best for adults who want to wander but do not want the page to imply real geography. It overlaps with cozy coloring, fantasy villages, cottagecore, and storybook scenes.

Supplies for travel coloring books

Colored pencils are the cautious default. They work well for windows, paths, small people, animals, rooflines, sand, foliage, and signs because they can be sharpened and layered gradually. Gel pens can add tiny highlights after pencils are down. Markers should be tested first because the topic and format do not prove marker-safe paper.

If the page is very busy, choose one focal point and six colors before beginning. Travel scenes often include many tempting details; a limited palette keeps them coherent.

Bottom line

Choose a travel coloring book by the trip you want to take on the page, not by whether the book fits in a bag. Europe is the safest first route, Asia is the strongest variety route, Africa is the strongest landscapes-and-animals route, and imaginary travel is best when you want storybook places instead of real-world destinations.
